Testing the Psychic Waters.

Maybe I’ve spent too much time with my head in a fantasy novel, but I’ve always wanted to believe that real psychics exist. I’d like to believe that someone can see through the swirling muck that is my brain and pull the answers I need from the ether.

Will I become a published author? End up with 2.5 babies and an Audi in the driveway? Find the secret to everlasting happiness?

I can’t begin to guess—but I always wondered if a psychic could.

And that’s how I found myself curled up on my bed with a glass of wine in my hand, trolling the Psychic Source website for a good psychic. I read a few profiles. Looked for guidance in the two-dimensional pictures staring back at me. But I got nothing. So I decided to just  call the number and see who I ended up with.

After listening to a few “personal greetings,”  I chose Lena—a clairvoyant who could supposedly read you and your situation with no more than your name and birthdate.

It didn’t start off well.

“Yeah, hi. Name and birthdate, please,” she snapped.

I told her, and she continued in a heavy New York accent, “Yeah. Okay. So what’s your question?”

I told her that my career was at a crossroads, and I was wondering which direction to take myself. Her answer?

“You’re going in the right direction. It’s going to happen in August of this year.”

“What’s going to happen?”

“The thing you’re looking for. The direction. Just keep a positive outlook and it’ll all come together.”

Uh huh. I let her repeat herself three or four more times before hanging up.

Undaunted, I tried again. This time, I spoke to Callie—an older woman with a gravelly voice who says she’s been working as a psychic for 40 years.

She started the call off on a much warmer note.

“Hi, this is Callie. What’s your name, dear?”

Encouraged, I decided to be up front and tell her I was a first-timer with no clue what I was doing.

“That’s okay, dear. As long as you’re open, I can help you. That’s what I’m here for!”

I posed the same question.

“Well, dear, I see here that you’ve got a lot of talent. But boy are you spreading your energy in a lot of directions! Don’t you ever sit still?”

Entirely disarmed, I laughed out loud.

She went on to tell me that yes, I was moving in the right direction. But that I needed to be patient.

“You’ll get the results you’re looking for,” she said. “I’m pulling a lot of positive cards for you. But you’ve got to focus! You’re just running around in circles!”

There was more, and it was both soothing and encouraging, but I won’t bore you with the details. But before I hung up, I asked her if she saw another baby in my future.

“Oh, your husband. He worries, worries, worries. You just need to give that one a rest, girl. Give him some space and he’ll come around.”

In other words, the universe isn’t very hopeful either.

The best piece of advice she gave me? “Just try standing still for a while and let the opportunities catch up to you.”

I don’t know if she’s psychic or not, but that? Was exactly what I needed to hear.

Will I call again? Probably not. But I certainly enjoyed myself. So if you’ve ever wanted to talk to a psychic, you might want to give these guys a try. If nothing else, you’ll end up with a good story to tell!

Disclosure: I was given two free ten-minute readings in order to do this review. Thoughts and opinions are my own—any giggles this gave you are all yours.

I like to believe that psychs are real too. I had my palm read once. It was silly but in some ways, did come true.

Stories abound around me, my friend. My mom went to a psychic who was the ‘psychic of the day’ at the time. She told me all that the psychic had told her which revolved around law enforcement, squabbles with friends, and various other things. I ran back to my room and put the cassette tape that she had given mom and as soon as I hit play I swear to you it sounded like the DEVIL!! I ran out of the room screaming and hopped into my moms lap and I told her that the devil was on the tape and I wasn’t going to listen to it and I was scared! Mom goes back to listen to it and said that maybe the batteries of the recorder was going dead so it went slower. Who knows? It scared me. What I do know? I was 12 and near the last day of school my best friend and I got into a huge fight and didn’t talk over the entire summer! That fall while my brother and I were at school and mom and dad were at work (only school year mom worked) our house was burglarized!

Also? I went to a psychic when I was around 20 and the strangest thing happened she said I would meet a man who drove a yellow car and whose favorite color was blue with the initials of XYZ and that man I would marry. When I was 23 I met Kevin and his favorite color is yellow and at the time he drove a red car and…….she was DEAD ON with the initials.

…..>AND, her taped recording of the session didn’t work either. It played slowly and sounded like The Devil!
