My Holiday Buying Guide: Dream vs. Reality.

Everywhere you look this week, people are doing Holiday Guides. But I? Am not nearly cool enough to be asked to review the hot new items. However, I can shop (and dream) with the best of them. And so here, for your drooling pleasure, are a few of the things topping my gift buying lists right now.

The Kitchen Set.

Tori loves to play with the kitchen stuff at school, so I’m looking for an at-home version. If money was no object, I’d get this one, from Pottery Barn Kids.

Pottery Barn Kitchen

The kitchen I'd be proud to have in my living room.

Unfortunately, money is, very much a matter of concern. So I’m leaning toward this one, from Melissa and Doug.

The kitchen that fits in my wallet (and living room).

The toy box.

This little girl of mine needs some place to stash her ever growing pile of toys, so a toy box is on the buying list. I’ve found lots of nice ones, but this one, from Levels of Discovery has stolen my heart.

Gorgeous toy box

It's a toy chest and a reading bench.

But, again, my heart is bigger than my wallet, so I think this is what will actually be under the tree (also a very nice option from Little Tikes).

This'll do the job, just fine.

Just for fun.

I’d love to get Tori a swing set worthy of playground, with swirly slides and the whole bit, like this one:

But instead? She’ll be getting a Weebles musical tree house, with its fun little slide. I loved my Weeble Wobbles when I was a kid, so of course she will too, right?

We'll all enjoy this slide.

Well, there are more things on my list, but I’m giving myself a serious case of the “I wants” with this, so I think we’ll leave it there for now. What’s on your gotta-have-it list this Christmas?

We actually have the pink version of the pottery barn kitchen….except it’s still at pottery barn. Anytime the kids want to play with their kitchen set, I take them to their other bedroom at Pottery Barn conveniently located in the local mall.

You know when we first bought our house, I drooled over that very same swingset. Our wallets have taken a beating too this year. Fortunately we’re spending it with the grandparents.

Grandparents are a very useful sort of thing to have around.

Love the list – gotta tell you – I think your best $$ will be spent on the weebles house – we purchased a similar one 6 years ago for my oldest and the toy still resides in my daughters room – its a family favorite – ORIGINAL BATTERIES!!!

    I second the Craigslist comment:)
